Kanal W is a social platform for the students at Westerdals School of Communication. It was conceived by myself and three other students - and then designed and produced in a few weeks by myself and Andreas Skaranger.
It is now a living, online, social magazine with a steady growth in returning visitors, and with 12 active editors and over 200 registered contributors. It aggregates inspirational content from Ffffound and collects images from Flickr, Delicious and Twitter, and has become a social hub at the school - offering a good glimpse of the student culture and current projects.
The Norwegian Association for Creative, Commercial Communication (Kreativt Forum) picked up on it and made Kanal W one of the featured articles of the #1/2009 edition of the printed edition of Kreativt Forum Magazine.
It was also used actively and for the first time in the school's promotional campaign in 2009. People who were curious about what the school had to offer wound up on Kanal W to ask questions, have a look and entered in dialogue with current students. Student applications rose 25% from one year to the next. The site also had an important role in the 2010 promotional campaign.
